I am a PhD student in Classical Archaeology at Sapienza University of Rome (XXXIX cycle). My research focuses on the decorative systems of residential buildings in Western Sicily, employing digital methodoligies for data collection and analysis. My academic interests include the archaeology of Sicily from the Hellenistic to the Late Antiquity period, with a particular emphasis on architectural decoration, sculpture, and Roman imperial ceramics.
The decision to spend six months of my research period abroad at the Institut für Archäologie, Fachbereich Klassische Archäologie, Universität Zürich stems from its strong academic tradition in the study of Sicilian and ancient Mediterranean archaeology. The institute's long-standing research project on Monte Iato, an important archaeological site in the province of Palermo, provides a valuable opportunity to deepen the analysis of Sicilian decorative systems through engagement with scholars specialized in various aspects of Sicilian and Mediterranean archaeology, as well as numerous training opportunities.
